Regina and Mac

Ellen Panel Art

“Maybe some women aren’t meant to be tamed. Maybe they just need to run free until they find someone just as wild to run with them.” ~Candace Bushnell

Regina realized several years ago that she longed for a wild, loving partner to run beside her. She wanted a true partnership – someone to support and care for her as well as the chance to care for someone else in a healthy, loving, intimate way. It was something missing in her life and she knew it would bring her joy and learning and wholeness. And then as quickly as she named this desire, she manifested it.

Her match.com profile was honest and open and forthcoming with who she was and what she needed. She shared what she’d had that no longer worked, exposed her flaws, and revealed her hopes. It was so unlike any other profile or presentation of self which most often shows only the positives for fear of rejection if seen too fully straight away. Heck, we can spend weeks or months (years? lifetimes?) making sure our significant other never really ‘sees’ us. Her approach was refreshing and revolutionary. And in return, she found someone who saw her full on, someone who replied, ‘What a profile!!’ THAT’S what clarity and honesty gets you – manifestation in its purest form.

This past summer Reg and Mac celebrated their one-year wedding anniversary, so I thought it might be fun to share the collaborative artwork that Cheryl and I did for their gift. This two-paneled canvas creation is linked by a fabric river, filled to the brim with gems and sea life and color. It flows through the woods of northwest Michigan and the beaches of southwest Florida – their two favorite places. Here are a few progressive and close-up photos.

A fun fairy tale story of their meeting is told in the homemade, repurposed mini-book that hangs from the piece. You can read it below:

Lots of other words are written on the piece expressing our sentiments and well wishes to Reg and Mac. They are:

“Take a lover that looks at you like maybe you are magic.” Frida Kahlo

“Lovers don’t finally meet somewhere. They’re in each other all along.” Rumi

Find your fairy tale.

“Even miracles take a little time.” Cinderella’s fairy godmother

“Females are not meant to be tamed. They’re to run wild until they find someone wild to run with.” Candace Bushnell

Love is patient. Love is kind. Love is life. Love is friendship.

“May this marriage be a sign of compassion. A seal of happiness here and hereafter.” Rumi

Any home can be a castle when the king and queen are in love.

And my favorite from my art partner, Cheryl:  “When the dream and reality merge into one, it often feels like magic. May you always feel the magic.”

Happy Belated Anniversary, Friends!
