I created this collage on a day when I felt particularly blessed to have so many wise and wonderful women in my life. Their words as well as the words of others are in this piece, some visible and readable and others buried beneath the multiple layers. I envisioned myself not just floating amidst these pieces or even ‘swimming’ among them as the name implies. Really, I saw myself exhaling fully and sinking to the bottom of the ocean floor, thus allowing the wisdom to spill over me and engulf me.
The original piece is created on an 18 x 24″ plywood base with Tyvek papercut eyes, silkscreened fish, layers of paper, and many, many quotes, poems, and handwritten words throughout.
