Blog Writings and Art From My Colleagues

Ann Beeching

Ann describes herself in these words:

“My love of nature and my life as an artist have inspired all aspects of my life. My art expresses our relationship to animals, whether through pets, nature or spirit, my paintings express my own belief that we are meant to  be in communication with the animals of the earth with respect and responsibility. My design work is an expression of the natural influences that the earth has on our environment, from color and texture to materials that are sustainable. I also incorporate the ancient ideas of our relationship to the energies of the Earth, Fung Shui and the philosophy of intuitive design. I help people prepare their homes to sell, staging and depersonalizing to assist them in the process of letting go, so that they can find a buyer for the home they have and move on to a new one. I invite you to explore these relationships with me.”

The painting she loaned to us is called Grandmother of Time.

I received this piece the same week that my dear Aunt Eileen died. She was 98-years-old, my godmother, and the matriarch of our family. Her wisdom, humor, and vitality stayed very close to me through this image. As did the strong, loving presence of another matriarch of my family, Ruth, my sister-in-law’s mother who also recently passed away at 96-years-old. The wisdom of our ancestors is ever-present, guiding us into our elderhood and into trusting our own inner wisdom.

Here is a photo of Grandmother of Time in our home.

For the 2013 West Central Home and Garden Tour, Ann offered her piece Wolf Song. It hung in the main hallway gallery and served as a focal point.
