This collection of collages started with the desire to create an unconventional family portrait. I photographed and drew my eyes as well as those of my husband and three children. The circle of these images formed the heart of each collage in this series.
With this first piece in the series, I’m Watching You, I placed the five of us in a circle behind another larger image of my eyes. As the matriarch of this clan, sometimes I feel like I support and guide the others and sometimes I feel like I am supported by them. It’s an interesting web of love that is pulled together by the Spider Goddess, situated at my third eye. She weaves her web among the five of us (and ALL of us) to keep us in her loving embrace.
It is a 16 x 16″ sheet of plywood with Tyvek papercut eyes, acrylic paint, and copper wire.
