Radical Connection classes

Please join me for a five-session workshop to explore Radical Connection, a fundamental, powerful opening to seeing, feeling, unwinding and transmuting the aspects of white supremacy that are damaging to our personal and collective humanities.

Some of the topics we’ll explore include:

  • Class 1: How do we create a Radically Connected space – inner and outer?
    •  Getting around the perfectionism and thinking v. feeling struggles of white supremacy.
  • Class 2: What does it mean to intentionally, radically focus on whiteness?
    • Understanding the ‘binary’ more fully.
    • Learning to honestly see ourselves in this story and understand the whole of our collective so we can better understand the system of white supremacy to resist and shift it.
  • Class 3: What exactly is connection, and in turn, separation?
    • Comparing linear and circular thinking
    • Feeling into how connection is experienced when embodied.
  • Class 4: Why is Radical Connection so critical in this movement (and always)?
    • Seeing more clearly how white supremacy fosters separation and its harmful outcomes.
    • Resisting separation by transforming it into connection.
    • Honoring and supporting the deep connection in those we need to/want to humbly follow and partner with on this path.
  • Class 5: Bringing it all together
    • Reviewing each element alone and in conjunction with each other
    • Plenty of time to get questions answered via group discussion and breakout groups

There are two timing options for this workshop.

*Each option has identical material, so you only need to choose one.

Option 1: Every other Tuesday afternoon, 1-3 p.m. EST (April 27, May 11, May 25, June 8, June 22)

OR

Option 2: Every other Wednesday evening, 6-8 p.m. EST (April 28, May 12, May 26, June 9, June 23)

Both classes are FULL – If you’d like to be placed on the waiting list, please email me via the Contact tab at the top of this page or Click on the registration buttons below

A few details:

  • All classes are on Zoom and are no-charge (aka free.)
  • Class sizes will be small – not more than 8 people.)
  • I ask that you commit to ALL FIVE of the sessions when you sign up. They relate to each other and they provide foundational material that will be required moving forward with other Radical Connection workshops.
  • If you cannot attend one of the sessions in your chosen series, you have the option of joining the same class in the other series for that week.
  • There will be some pre-class reading and post-class Action Steps for each class (aka homework), such as reading articles and blogs, exploring, journaling, etc. It is important that you commit to this outside time as it helps all of us deepen the work and connect more radically. The amount of time you spend on this is up to you. Folks in past classes report roughly 1-5 hours over the two week period between classes. Some of the Action Steps to work on outside of class include:
    • Following Black women and Indigenous teachers to learn from and support their emotional labor
    • Practicing creating connected spaces outside of class in our day-to-day living environments and ourselves
    • Intentionally witnessing and connecting with all of the faces of whiteness, using them as mirrors to ourselves, so we can better understand the whole of white supremacy and our white collective
    • Go Get Your People – understanding our barriers that keep us from connecting to the white people in our lives that we need to communicate with and guide
    • Learning personal self-care that allows us to build the emotional, embodied stamina so this movement can be sustained for a lifetime and so we can stay present for the BIPOC leaders of this movement.

I would LOVE to have you join me in this endeavor. If you’re ready to sign up, click below and you’ll be taken to the Google doc sign-up form.

If you’d like to learn a little more about it all, please read on!

I’m excited to be moving back into this guiding work – the work of sharing what I know and feel about seeing, feeling, unwinding and transmuting the aspects of white supremacy that traumatize Black, Indigenous and People of Color, and damage our personal and collective humanities.

These classes started as Conversations on Race in 2017, grew into CREWW – A Collective of Engaged White Witnesses 2018-20, and now, after a short break, have evolved even more into Radical Connection in 2021. I’m continually expanding and deepening with this work and thus what I share continues to expand and deepen. And I realized in previous classes that folks had a tough time embodying and integrating the historical, cultural learning because we hadn’t done this foundational work of radically connecting first. And so here we are!

This iteration, Radical Connection, is very much in line with my mantra in life:

We are all connected in the deepest, most intricate of ways – each of us to every one and every thing, seen and unseen. There isn’t one individual action we take or belief we hold or feeling we feel that doesn’t affect the whole. This is a foundational ~ radical ~ truth for me.

These true, deep connections are never broken. They can, however, be forgotten or ignored, buried intentionally or unknowingly beneath patterns and within structures, both personal and systemic.

It is vital that we do whatever we can to see these patterns and structures clearly, to feel our way through their falsehoods, and to heal the damage they’ve done in keeping us from remembering our true, deep connections to one another.

One of the most profound and damaging aspects of white supremacy is the illusion of separation. So much of what we’ve seen and felt in this past year (and before) are crystal clear, undeniable outcomes of this illusion of separation. Separated from each other. Separated from the truths of our collective and personal histories. And separated mind from body, so much so that we often feel unable to engage, speak or act when it has been critical that we do.

That’s all intentional – that separation and the resulting uncertainty and fear – a deliberate tool of white supremacy. And so in return, we need to intentionally seek to remember, acknowledge, embody and heal those stolen, hidden, ignored connections.

I’d love for you to join me in this endeavor – this five-session workshop. It may sound intense to address all of the above, but I have found after decades of doing this work, that the more I am willing to see and acknowledge, the more whole and joyful my role in this collective movement (life) becomes. Whether you are new to these concepts and this movement or well-seasoned, the material will resonate in whatever way it needs to for you.

This workshop serves as a foundation (aka a prerequisite) for future classes that I cannot wait to share, such as:

  • Radically Connected History – both collective and personal (this is powerful learning!)
  • White Culture – current and envisioned
  • Dehumanization – of ALL of us
  • Intention v. Impact – an important distinction
  • And so many more ideas – I’m waiting to feel your presence to determine what may be next.

If you’d like to sign up for the foundational, five-session workshop, Radical Connection, click below and you’ll be taken to the Google docs sign-up form.

Thank you!
